Cost, fit and getting started

How much does a real estate lawyer cost in California for a property dispute?

Based on an interview with Josué Cristóbal Guerrero, Founding Partner, recorded .

The short answer

It depends on the case. We usually offer flat fee litigation paid monthly so you can predict the cost. Most of our litigation matters cost about $5,000 to get started, plus the monthly amount and costs such as expert witnesses or filing fees. If you are already facing a trial, arbitration or mediation, the first payment can be higher.

Kind of like asking how long is a piece of string.

How the flat fee works

Greenacre Law billed by the hour for most of its existence. We recently introduced flat fee monthly litigation to create predictability. A flat amount up front typically covers the first two months, and a monthly amount follows, based on the size and complexity of the matter.

How long you would be paying

Among the real estate cases we handle, the average lasts approximately ten months. Some resolve faster and some take longer, and construction cases often run longer. We can usually tell you which we expect yours to be, so you can plan. We cannot promise any result.

Fee clauses

Your contract or trust may have a clause that lets the winner recover attorney fees. We look for that early, because it changes the math on both sides.
